High Plains Corp (NASDAQ:HIPC) retires $13.2 mln debt

WICHITA, Kan., Jan 15 (Reuter) - High Plains Corp said
Wednesday it has retired the $13.2 million balance of its debt
through Bank One, Indianapolis, with proceeds from a new loan
from the National Bank of Canada (TSE:NA).
High Plains said the new financing package includes an $11
million, five-year-term loan and a $4 million revolving loan
secured by the company's York, Nebraska, ethanol plant.
"We were able to prepay the Bank One debt without
prepayment penalty," said Raymond Friend, the company's chief
financial officer.
High Plains also announced the completion of new financing,
through <MetLife Capital Corp>, to fund its Industrial Grade
Ethanol production upgrade.
High Plains is one of the nation's largest producers of
ethanol.
