ING Barings(Rob Kaimowitz) came out with this this morning--AOL now going to be available via set top box via GMH DirecTV--4.7 million subs: "· Interactive Product #1: Set-Top-Internet-Box; A National Branded Partnership (like AOL) Seems Likely. The most important of the three new interactive products, in our view, is the advanced multi-media set-top box. This product will include a full-blown Internet browser and will combine the full functionality of the Internet, bandwidth off the satellite combined with accelerated graphics and unique content stored on a high capacity hard drive. We expect the product to be formally introduced within the next 8 weeks. · We strongly believe that DirecTV's national footprint and large subscriber base combined with the technical advantages of a digital satellite system should lead to a meaningful partnership with a nationally branded content provider the likes of an America Online."
