US West is generally regarded as the slowest of the slow among the RBOCs. No one's going to trip over themselves to wire the Rocky Mountains. What you guys enjoy in terms of a sparsely populated low-stress lifestyle, you lose in infrastructure. Hey you can't have everything. In fact, isn't the former a direct result of less of the latter?
