My understanding:
ESST == VCD + SVCD + DVD + Internet chip + ISA audio + PCI audio + V.90 DSP modem + V.90 HSP modem
ESST addresses the consumer market ( VCD, SVCD, DVD, Internet chip set, V.90 modems) and PC market (ISA audio, PCI audio and V.90 modems). You see, V.90 is a nice product spans from PC market to consumer market, and it is a major work horse for the Internet market for now. It should be replaced by DSP/HSP ADSL chip set in the future.
CUBE == VCD + SVCD + DVD + MPEG encoder + MPEG codec + "Divicom"
CUBE addresses the consumer market (VCD, SVCD, DVD, etc..), the broadcasting market (Divicom), the cable set-top box market(??) and entertainment/authoring markets (encoders). CUBE also seems to address the PC market with its DVD decoder chip (??).
