On the second page: One of the most impressive new products was Gateway 2000's Destination XTV, which was developed in conjunction with digital satellite provider EchoStar Communications Corp., Dolby Laboratories and audio component developer Boston Acoustics. The Destination XTV looks like a television but it is in fact a digital TV that runs Microsoft Windows and provides full C-Cube MPEG and Dolby Digital decoding, allowing users to play DVDs and games, surf the Internet, watch TV, pull down satellite signals and send E-mail. All models not only come with a cordless keyboard and a cordless mouse, but a V.90 56K modem as well. The basic model has a 3.2GB hard drive, 3-D graphics and 32MB RAM, and can be easily upgraded to 16.8GB and 128MB RAM; it is also cable-modem ready. Even better, the basic model retails for under $2,000. |
