Don,

You are right about people and even brokers and brokerage firms in how they think that naked options are more dangerous then selling a stock short! You are also correct about how one handles their margin in selling options naked also, especially far out of the money options. I might not make as much as a short seller does in selling naked options, but I sleep much better knowing I have some buffer when they do squeeze a stock.

IMO options are meant to be sold, rather covered calls and puts or naked calls and puts, for I do not know of anyone that can time the market as one has to be able to do when buying options! I've always liked having money put into my accounts, rather than having it taken out for something that will expire in due time and more then likely expire worthless. (All the time value will expire worthless for sure!)
