Aleks,

Everone has reacted positively to the closing of the Asyst Automation division because it has lost money. I am a little concerned about why it lost money and what it says about the quality of ASYT management.

Carl Johnson has been very positive on PRIA, BRKS, and ASYT because he sees great demand for fab automation. His recommendations have been confirmed by rising sales and earnings at PRIA and rising sales at ASYT. Unfortunately, ASYT wasn't able to make much profit and it seems that it closed the division that had some competition (correct me on this if I am wrong). Is it true that ASYT management can only eek out a profit from business it has a current monopoly in? How confident should we be in continuing earnings? It would seem to be easy to move some costs that supported both into discontinued costs.

I am raising these issues because I have not been able to buy ASYT although I started this thread and have been following them for a few years. I am looking for convincing rebuttle. Saying that ASYT should receive the same valuation as PRIA is like saying that the Patriots should get a Lombardi Trophy, also.

Cary
