I don't want to confuse you too much so I'll keep it brief. If it makes sense; by being in the state of flux or change and by realizing the inadequacy of 'self' you are by definition closer to God rather than farther away. The worse off, more confused, more uprooted you are the closer God draws to you. Feel anger, sadness, turmoil, queasy stomach, sickness, sin, stomp your feet, all the above: God draws closer. You would think it is the exact opposite, right !! You would think why would God even want me in a condition like this. He does. And. Moreso.

Hosea 14:8 I am living and strong ! I look after you and care for you. I am like an evergreen tree, yielding fruit to you throughout the year. My mercies never fail.

I've heard some of the oldtimers say to lay out a 'fleece'. I am not very good at it. But I have tried it a few times and it worked I know a few times. I do know that confusion is not of God. If you are 'confused' do not proceed. Concerning the church. Ask the Lord to confirm in your next visit that an acquaintance will surprise you there that you did not know attended that church. Then ask the Lord to do the opposite at the other church; you won't be surprised about anything. You might try it. If BOTH circumstances occur there is your confirmation. Think up a similar plan on your apartment. But pray about it and have a little fun with it. It is always interesting where God will lead........In Christ.gregor
