I guess it depends on how small the piece of tape is. My cats handle foreign objects different ways. Most likely, if it is quite small, it will be hacked like a fur ball and deposited where it will cause the most trouble. Dweezil likes to do this with the indigestible parts of birds. In the worst case it could cause intestinal blockage so watch his uummm, eating and make sure things are passing through.
