Sheila, The NASDAQ is divided into several "tiers". The top tier with the most stringent reporting requirements is the National Market Something (NMS). Something is either system or security, I think.
The bottom tier with the least stringent reporting requirements is the OTCBB for bulletin board or "pink sheet" stocks.
There's another tier in the middle, can't remember the exact acronym, but it's the NASDAQ Small Cap Market. There's also a NASDAQ International Market.
As for indexes, you're right, there's bunches of 'em: Nasdaq-100 Index, Nasdaq Composite, Nasdaq/NMS Composite, Nasdaq Financial 100 Index, Nasdaq/NMS Industrial Index, Nasdaq Computer Index, and Nasdaq Telecommunications Index; to name a few that were easy to copy and paste. The rest can be found at nasdaq.com or nasdaq.com
Hope that helps, Alski |
