One other thing...if all you do is look at earnings, you miss the wider picture.
Revenues - up considerably.
Inventory - 2 days (!) - better than Dell

In addition, somebody posted the top 50 patent recipients in the last year. AAPL was up there. That's extraordinary for a company that was left for dead a year ago.
Also, they are sitting on a ton of cash. This all adds up to very favorable conditions for a company that is just starting to hit its stride.
