Sword - We seem to have come to the same conclusion regarding the trading habits recently. Although I still day trade, I find the most profit to be had buy story stock position trading with day trading tendencies.

Can still be just as profitable, and much more, but you still must cut your losses quick. The only difference here from normal day trading is that you allow your winners more room to run at the risk of losing some/all of your gains but still cut your losses. For example, if I purcahse XYZ at 8 with a 9 target and it runs to 9 1/2, instead of locking in that gain at 9 1/2, I set a stop at 8 1/2 at let it go. You still get a gain if it hits your stop but you also give it more room to run and do not lock in the extra point. In today's market, my research has shown (at least by my trading habits) that this method would have yielded significantly higher results. You must also "play" with the stop a bit dependant on price action....a little more for some, a little less for others.

Good luck with the thread.....
