I am an end user. We aren;t even looking at $1599 Apple non linear systems. We just finished purchasing 2 AVID media composers and 3 AVID newscutters. Apple is no-wheresville in the broadcast industry. some private production companies use mac products.. and a lot of graphic departments. but when it comes to cutting tape, AVID is the way to go. AVID is not down and out yet. It;s future depends on server based systems. It's alliance with TEK creates the perfect environment to create the server based system has been unable to create. We are in the process of buying an Avid news computer system.,. anticipating AVID;s ability to finally develop a server based system. I know everyone is excited about Apple. IMac is selling like crazy. But if you sit down and use one, you will quickly realize it is not the best computer on the market. I am not worrying about Apple. Kath
