What makes YOU think that "a_rapport" on Yahoo is the same "adam rapport" or "wilhu" or "bullstroke" for that matter? Remember the imposter who posted here under the Vixel VP's name "Jay O Donald"? Why is it that "rapport" ( brand name of Vixel hub ), wilhu ( there is a Lee Hu engineer working for Vixel ) and Jay O Donald ( VP Vixel) are all Vixel-connected names?? Is this a coincidence??.
Months ago when I forwarded several of bullstroke's posts to a VERY senior mgr at Ancor, this person's response was a) this person ( bullstroke ) doesn't know what he's talking about/he's out in left field and b)the so-called laundry list of OEMs awarded by bullstroke to Brocade were still up for grabs/in play. Don't forget that bullstroke posted that 100% of all the major oems were already won by Brocade at least 6 months ago .
Also, I am not surprised that the bull/bear debate and stock volatility is now back in full swing due to ANCR pushing thru $5 which makes ANCR both marginable and shortable. Quite frankly, I am hoping that there is a whole lot of shorting going on right now <g>. Thanks to ELeder for posting the breakout list..Making those Telescan screening software lists tends to invite the momentum/day trader crowd. One has to assume that the improving technicals, the steadily increasing frequency of Fibre Channel/SAN news, the pattern/frequency of Ancor news, the reduced ( eliminated? ) overhead supply of Reg D conversions, the upcoming Morgan Keegan FC investment conference and the takeover talk has put ANCR "in play".
Regarding takeover rumors, I am personally unaware of any impending/cancelled merger offer/deal HOWEVER, I heard last year that Ancor's BOD was obliged to at least consider any serious offer North of $10.But that was when the stock was trading below $2 and perhaps the recent developments have changed their thinking. Supposedly, both Mike Holmgren and Rick Neuhisel were "happy" with their jobs/situations and it took "an offer they couldn't refuse" to entice them to change jobs. Let's see what happens this year with ANCR.
I would not be surprised to see ANCR taken out sometime this year, hopefully for not less than $20. Compaq bought Shopping.com for $220 million in spite of 9 months revenues being only $4 million and losses of -$19 million. Cisco bought Granite for $220 million which had zero product and zero revenues. ASND bought Netstar for $300 million when it had trailing annual revenues of only $5 million.
From my own personally biased perspective, ANCR's technology alone is worth at least $15/share today ( $375 million ), considering Ancor's proprietary ASIC technology , particularly the lead time they have on ASIC development, the future growth prospects for FC and the relatively small number of switch competitors. Brocade and McData are the serious contenders. Vixel is looking for a new CEO. Gadzoox technology is playing catch-up in switching . I have also heard a variety of interesting rumors on Brocade ranging from a) IPO this quarter, b) on the block for sale and c) already sold but not made public yet. Brocade also rumored to have new product code-named "Cocoon" to be announced 1st half '99 ( which probably translates to shipping in volume by Q4 '99). One rumor floating around was that they tried to sell themselves to Sequent but Sequent declined. I have no idea if these Brocade rumors have any validity.
PS - what makes Mark McGuire's 70th Home Run ball worth $3 million??? |
