I agree that analyst estimates are not very reliable, and anyone looking at an investment should definitely take them into account, but by no means treat them as anything more than a somewhat-educated guess. Your best bet is to learn what you can about a company and translate this info into your own guess as to what the next few quarters should hold. IDTI looks good for at least the short term. I can't figure out why analysts think '97 will be down from '96 - anyone shed some light?
