Brightpoint and Esat Digifone Sign Second Agreement
INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1999--Brightpoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:CELL - news) announced today that the Company has entered into an additional agreement with Esat Digifone, a GSM operator based in Dublin, Ireland. Under this new 3 year agreement, Brightpoint will provide wireless prepaid products and integrated services related to Esat Digifone's prepaid services. From its recently enhanced facility in Dublin, Brightpoint will provide prepaid fulfillment and distribution services to Digifone, including prepaid SIM card and recharge card management, and prepaid wireless handsets, accessories and recharge cards for Digifone's authorized outlets throughout Ireland.
Brightpoint also supplies Digifone with fulfillment and distribution services and wireless handsets and accessories for Digifone's authorized dealers throughout Ireland under its existing agreement. These products and services are utilized in connection with Digifone's wireless network in Ireland.
Esat Digifone, a subsidiary of Esat Telecom Group plc (Nasdaq:ESATY - news), is Ireland's newest mobile phone operator. Digifone launched in March 1997 with a full range of GSM services and a reported 96% population coverage in Ireland. Digifone now reports 185,000 customers and over 40% of the GSM market in Ireland.
