GTE Supply Selects DynamicWeb's Internet-to-EDI Solution to Expand Electronic Commerce Program

Supply Chain Management Division of Leading Telecommunications Company to Use DynamicWeb Technology

FAIRFIELD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1999-- DynamicWebâ„¢ Enterprises Inc. (OTC:DWEB - news), a developer of Internet electronic commerce and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) business solutions, today announced that GTE Supply (NYSE:GTE - news) will deploy DynamicWeb EDIxchangeBuy Internet Service.

GTE Supply will offer EDIxchangeBuy to more than 2,000 suppliers who are not yet EDI-enabled as part of an effort to further automate transactions within their supply chain. Specific terms of the agreement with GTE Supply were not disclosed.

EDIxchangeBuy deploys a secure, customized Web site for GTE Supply vendors who subscribe to the service. Through this site, suppliers will enjoy the advantages of electronic commerce with GTE Supply at a fraction of the cost associated with a traditional EDI System.

The EDIxchangeBuy service translates all documents sent to and from the Web site into GTE Supply's standard EDI format, requiring no changes to GTE Supply's legacy system or internal processes. GTE Supply vendors only need a desktop computer with Internet access to begin electronically trading. DynamicWeb will continue to leverage its
strategic alliance with Rocky Mountain Internet (NASDAQ:RMII - news) to provide Internet access to EDIxchangeBuy subscribers.

EDIxchangeBuy is part of DynamicWeb's EDIxchange Enterprise Suite which consists of two Internet-based electronic commerce solutions -- EDIxchangeBuy and EDIxchangeSell -- both of which leverage the global reach of the Web to extend an electronic commerce enterprise to suppliers and customers who are not EDI capable.

''GTE Supply selected DynamicWeb's EDIxchangeBuy for the seamless way it integrates with our EDI infrastructure and how it would ease electronic commerce participation for our suppliers,'' said Bob Peterson, manager of Electronic Commerce for GTE Supply.

''We are delighted that GTE Supply has selected DynamicWeb to help them expand their electronic commerce initiative,'' said James D. Conners, president and COO of DynamicWeb. ''We're confident that EDIxchangeBuy will allow GTE's mid-sized suppliers to enjoy the benefits of electronic commerce without incurring the cost and complexity of EDI.''
