Been there, done that, Les, see Message 7260487. Cuts both ways. Precisely how many Republican Senators are going into this with an open mind? Exactly how many Senators would be left if you removed everybody that didn't have some bias going in? When I was promoting my modest proposal before the Nov. election, that candidates be upfront about where they stand on the issue, my fallback position, given the "unknowability" of how anyone might vote, was that in lieu of an honest statement, assume party affiliation as a fallback indicator. Party affiliation was a pretty good indicator in the House, and it will probably be a good indicator in the Senate too. Appropriately, when it's all politics, although it's unusual for Democrats to maintain very much party discipline.

Glad to see you referring to the favored "objective" press source around here, though. Maybe local hero Drudge has been leaked something on the matter too.
