The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999 edition that the
Toronto Stock Exchange has completed the annual shuffling of its TSE 300
index and about two-thirds of the 16 stocks being turfed are in the
depressed resource sector. The Globe's Dennis Slocum writes that the TSE
300 is widely viewed as a resource-oriented barometer of price movement and
the changes will allow the key market indicator to better reflect an
increasingly diversified Canadian economy. The stocks to be deleted are
Abacan Resource, Allelix Biopharmaceuticals, Breakwater Resources, Delrina
Corp. Exchangeable, Golden Star Resources, Harmac Pacific, Indochina
Goldfields, LionOre Mining International, Lumonics, Miramar Mining, Orvana
Minerals, Rio Narcea Gold Mines, Repap Enterprises, Spar Aerospace, SR
Telecom and WIC Western International Communications.
