As you've subsequently seen, not so. An absolutely appalling bunch. Though to call them a "bunch" is a considerable exaggeration. Joe now claiming coyly that some sort of repressive deal with SI is a done thing. I've emailed Jill asking for an explanation. I suggest that you and others do the same.
Bill, I think, is not a monster; in his way he means well, though he's far too accustomed to having his own way. But Joe... He purports to be a techie--I've already announced an interest in finding out who his is, and I suggest that you do the same. You've obviously got sources I lack. He seems to feel that my request is an "invasion of privacy". Wierd. Give it a try: I know I can find out pretty much all there is to know about anyone in my field within 48 hours, and the more important they are, the easier it is, obviously.
Really, beyond belief.
