Rosemary, you have missed a major point. The US as a whole sells 20% of its exports to Brazil, and Brazil is the linchpin of SA. And the fear is that Mexico could get dragged down - (I think Mexico is our second largest trading partner, behind Canada). Companies that buy from Dell sell to Brazil and SA. If Dell's customers are getting hurt they might opt to buy fewer computers. In economic terms, that's called the multiplier effect. $1 loss in exports can translate into several dollars of lost GDP.
