The 400 has 3x optical zoom - plus an additional 2x digital zoom.

Unfortunately, Clik! doesn't work on Macs as of yet. Of course, if your Mac has a USB port, you can wait until NEC releases the USB Clik! drive.

In regards to batteries, you might buy some rechargeable NiCad batteries and a charger. Radio Shack has both.
