I've tried to send this response three times, and each time lost my connection.
Here goes number four. The previous message was incomplete, and should read:

Gary, I will address your allegations in order.
1) You are right, I missed the boat on Veeco. I accepted the mis-interpretation
by a work collegue of an announcement by Veeco regarding Read-Rite and Seagate
(knowing that SMIT had just done business with both of them). I have
since read the announcements myself, and kow that they have nothing
to do with SMIT. I stand corrected.

However,
2) As to your allegations that I don't do any homework - my record of close to
two dozen postings since I started this thread back in April speaks for itself.
My earnings forecasts have been very accurate. I have spoken with
management numerous times, often on issues raised by others on this thread, and
have often been the first to mention significant news (i.e. sales to
Mitsiubishi and IBM).

3) As to your suggestion that I sell at a loss - I mentioned early on that I bought
into SMIT in Dec95 at $4. If you had been reading this thread as recently
as mid Dec96, you would know that I doubled my position at $8 1/8, when it
became marginable.

4)
