The main problem is that there's no competition. The banks respond to all complaints with a bemused grin and the supercilious statement, "I'm the only caterer in town." If only we consumers had longer memories, we could punish them for their contemptuous treatment of us, but as it is, they'll improve only when they have no choice, and we'll applaud them for it when they do.
