SUNR PRESS RELEASE:
Sun River Mining Announces Favorable Assays From Its Challana Property
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1999--Sun River Mining, Inc. (OTC BB:SUNR - news) announces up to 5.2 oz. gold per ton in samples assayed from the recently acquired gold property in the Challana River Valley of Bolivia (see news release dated January 11, 1999).
The samples assayed were taken during a mine site visit in October 1998, by an independent third party retained to provide assessment of certain properties that the Company was contemplating acquiring, and provide recommendations concerning the Company's financial needs.
The samples were processed and tested for gold and silver content by Hazen Research, Inc. (Hazen) of Golden, Colo., an internationally known independent laboratory. Sun River Mining did not select where on the property samples were to be taken, and was never in control of the samples delivered to the assay lab.
The objectives of the test program were to perform a gravity separation study on 2 adit samples to determine recoverable gold values in a placer sample using a scrubbing, screening, and shaking table test procedure and determine the gold content of the remaining 11 samples by the spotty or ''nugget'' gold procedure. Assays of the samples varied from 5.21 to < .002 oz gold/ton. The lowest assays, as expected, were from samples of materials deemed as out of the pay streaks or from material exiting the gold recovery sluice box. In the 2 samples treated to determine recoverable gold content, the samples showed gold and silver recoveries of 98.1% and 98.4% respectively in minus 1/4 inch by 20-mesh product. Because of the percentage of gold and silver recovered, Hazen believes, ''..a trommel scrubbing operation, followed by screening at 1/2-inch and jigging the minus 1/2-inch material, should recover most of the gold in the 'Adit C' type material.'' The average density of 3 runs of the 2 samples was 2.76 g/cc. Notable silver content was found in certain samples tested by the spotty or ''nugget'' procedure.
There has not been sufficient exploration work conducted on this property to date that would permit preparation of a resource or reserve estimate. As indicated in the Jan. 11, 1999, news release, the Company is seeking funding for exploration work and payments on the property.
