Ok, I use NT for games exclusively. Here's the summary:

DOS Games at 320x200 (VGA) will all work under NT, less sound.
ALL 2D Games w/DirectX3 OR DirectX5 support will run under NT 4.0.
DirectX3 3D games will run under NT without hardware accelaration.
All Windows Glide Games will run on NT w/3dfx card.
OpenGL games will run under NT.
DOS Glide Games (ie: TR1) will NOT work on NT 4.0
DirectX5/6 3D games (which have no glide version) won't run on NT, though SOME may run in software emulation mode (ie: Die by the sword, Return to Krondor, etc.)

Performance is excellent, and no slower than win95/dos.

Video driver support for NT is excellent.
Scannner support is great if you have a SCSI scanner, non-existant otherwise.
Printers are well supported.
Video Input/Capture support for NT 4.0 is virtually non-existant.
Networking/internet support is superb.

Hope my little summary helps you make a decision.

Some plusses I find indispensable under NT:

Multiprocessor support (lets your system run at full speed no matter how many things you're doing).

Stripe sets/software raid lets you create HUGE volumes with multiple drives, and they run faster too.

Disk IO is MUCH faster (if you use SCSI).

Good luck :)
