I think I'll quit smoking. 8700 worst case. 9000 maybe. Options get out of the way tomorrow, and next week we start up again. The higher we go the bigger the point swing on corrections.

* Despite a tremendous December jump in tobacco prices, U.S.
consumer inflation ended 1998 tamely and without any hint of
future acceleration, economists said. On Thursday, the Labor
Department reported its CONSUMER PRICE INDEX (CPI) rose just 0.1
percent last month, less than the 0.2-percent increase forecast,
on average, by economists in a Reuters poll. CORE CPI, which
excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.3 percent, just
below the 0.4-percent reading economists had forecast. "This is
very good inflation news," said Richard Berner, chief economist at
Mellon Bank Corp. "It's the same old story: strong economy, low
inflation." For the full text story, see
