I've said it to others before. Apple has, with the iMac, apparently shifted its focus to the appliance mode ( pump those iMac puppies through the channel and see what happens).

As a power user with circa 1984 loyalty, I've seen the subtle shift. It was slightly interrupted when the clones started competing with Jobs. It stopped when Stevo saw market share go down the tubes. In the process of deconstructing the market for macs clones, I think the man saw a short term opportunity with the bubble gum machines (iMac) to the detriment of the rest of us. I think the Street sees what's going on and IMHO it's going to take one hell of a lot more good news than Apple has to spread.
