My dad hates gambling (his dad lost everything and more playing cards back in the 1940s-50s), but he was lucky enough to take my advice and buy, as his first stock trades ever, mid-six-figures' worth of Net stocks back last summer, the day of the crash (pretty much right when things bottomed). Needless to say, he's made a disgusting amount of money by now. This makes me feel a little better because a couple months earlier I lost most of his retirement account for him on one penny stock.

It's all he can talk about now -- he wants to quit his job and become a daytrader. As far as he seems to think, short-term trading is all easy money -- YHOO up $75 in a day, etc. If he keeps talking like this, I'm going to worry. Daytrading is NOT at all related to being lucky and buying hot stocks on a dip. But he's caught the bug bad.
