It's nice to have a civil discussion on a thread for once. i wish SI had more life to it, yahoo is such a joke.

I'm nervous about much of enterprise software for 1999. The problem i fear is that no one knows how big a slow down (if any) is in store for the 2nd half of the year. If there is one, the investment community won't know if it's short term or permanent. Thus i think there's time.

We're working on the segments that appear to be strong and can grow no matter what happens in back office. E-commerce is a clear winner, i think front office looks decent. i can't tell on business intelligence or supply chain, but those are the four areas mentioned most often by the people we speak to. (In essence what we're hearing is that after y2k remediation (which back office is a major part of solving the problems) incremental spending will be diverted towards the above segments.
