Catering only to the whims of an elitist segment is a business model for failure. Apple has proven that it can provide a decent consumer machine that can run the same OS/Software as my grandiose mini-tower. Revenues from the consumer sector iMac and increased developer support will guarantee that they can continue to offer high-end machines for a reasonable cost. Where have you been in a cave? A year ago I took a real public beating for buying a Mac; now the iMac has brought Apple's image back from the zen and kharma crowd to a company that makes computers for everybody -- the same thing that made the Apple II a success and made it possible to fund the original Macintosh (Lisa) development.
