Normally you would tender your shares as instructed in the proxy materials. Then receive a share certificate. You would hold until the IPO or whatever method is adopted for AHS to become a publicly traded company. You are correct normally a broker would not hold the new share until there is a market and any restrictive legend is lifted. A share of stock is a share of stock, whether in a public or private company. The only difference, one has market makers trading the shares.
