Not really true about Vegas hotels.
Obviously they want you to gamble, but consider this. In the last 5 years there has been a major shift in the focus there. They have made a large push towards more conventions, ever try to get a room there in October, and have tried to make it enticing for families. Lots more attractions to occupy kids, theme parks, rides, free shows, etc.
Also, last I read, there are 6 or 7, of the top 10, largest hotels in the world, right there in Vegas. If you stay at most of these hotels you will also see in-room movies offered at most. For years Vegas had a following of the Frank Sinatra era people and they are getting old. Now you see Treasure Island, Mirage, a covered downtown (old strip), water parks, roller coasters, etc. Yes, they still see a lot of high rollers, but with convention traffic, they get a lot of slot players. Here's another fact. $1 slot machine nets an average of $25,000 per year, per machine.
This is my opinion but I do go there a couple times a year. Not sure how internet would go over there though. I occassionally watch movies in my room when I am having a bad day, or when I need to spend some time with my wife. She puts up with my gambling provided I spend time with her also. I learned this the hard way. When we first started going there about twelve years ago, I once spent 20 hours straight at the same craps table. Boy was she hot. Hasn't happened since. Anyway, I can't imagine wanting to get on the net when there. Of course, if we don't see price increase before my next trip, I would probably kill for a computer in my room to check on things.
It would offer another form of entertainment for kids since they are going after families.
