I entered a day order to purchase 8000 shares of a BB company at a limit price of .045. The order did *not* specify "All or none." I got a mid-day confirmation that the broker had purchased 2500 shares, leaving open the remainder. The balance was not filled, and the order cancelled out at the end of the day.

Assuming that the order was a good-till-cancelled order, not a day order, would the brokerage than fill the balance without my incurring an additional commission? The customer service representative says "No" because the balance would be filled on another day from the initial partial fill. True or false?
