I didn't say that, but it opens the door to a different paradigm of interactivity. Any Vod delivery will require a server with storage and the ability to handle multiple streams that can be controlled by the user. I think I am trying to point to the risk of delay based on the MSO's wanting to move to a different architechture. My point was that this risk is very low, both from my conversations with them and their commitment to Cablelabs and the emerging companies that will provide services such as Prasara, wink, Worldgate, Tivo etc.

The same goes for the delivery of VOD through dsl vs cable. The issues as to streaming, interactivity, storage and bandwidth usage are the similar. Where companies such as Ncube and Silicon Graphics have been very good is delivering large quantities of streams (up to 10 or 20 thousand according to NCUBE), but not "interactive" streams. IN the past, a good video server was fault tolerant and could provide 1000's of streams. It is the interactivity along with the vast content retrieval and storage issues that have made IVOD a technical hurdle from both a performance and price standpoint
