Hi, Mike

I am not a player but I am interested in the discussion here. About your comments on CSCC products, simple and therefore cheap products as
well as recently addressed congestion control and QoS issues, I have some comments.

1. CASC products are cheap or better to say with better performance/cost ratio. This does not necessarily mean that the products are simple. At least they are not simpler than the products from other companies.
2. I am an engineer working on network traffic management area for quite a while, especially on congestion control and QoS. Congestion control is an issue in network ever since the first network was built. There are a lot of schemes being proposed. A better one is simple and agree with existing industry standards. If a network equipment company did not consider congestion control before designing/producing their products, they would never be able to sell them. Therefore, CSCC's mentioning the issue of congestion control does means they are providing better scheme and give customers more options on the schemes. As to the QoS issue, I believe what you mentioned is the QoS for Frame Relay Networks since the QoS for ATM are already the international standard and being provided by all the ATM switches (although different companies may use different methods). The QoS for Frame Relay is a brand new idea proposed by CSCC. If this becomes true, internet phone, video etc. will be more realistic and with more performance guarantee.

In one word, CSCC's mentioning the congestion control and QoS issues does not mean that their "simple" product were not be able to do that and they now have to do that to catch up other companies product feature.

Please forgive me if any of my works are aggressive or not graceful. But do believe me from the technique point of view.

Thanks
