Red Scouser: Just noticed your references to CRUS. KevinR on the CRUS thread does TA on the stock and is an enthusiastic long.
I am more interested in the fundamentals. You mentioned EPS of 0.3. This would be 0.1 better than last quarter which was better than forecasts. In fact, I expect better than 0.3. Also, Alfred Teo, on the BoD and the largest shareholder with about 13% was still buying big at the end of December apparently trying to reach 15% which is the limit allowed by the poison pill restrictions. The new COO has also been buying. Major restructuring including the sale of two fabrication plants is underway. The plants have not been sold yet, which is a concern, (they are caught up in agreements with IBM and LU), but the volume and action the last few days might indicate that an annnoucnement is coming at about the time of earnings. CRUS has also had some nice design wins (it provides the sound chip for iMAC) and is big in SEG drives, which are also selling well, and in many PC's. The semiconductor sector is on the rise. RAMBUS and AMD problems were company specifif.
It has a bad history, this stock, and is risky, but I own more of it than CPQ, so am happy with recent rise from about $10. I'm holding at least until earnings, but it is one of those stocks that you need to watch. I hope to get it to $16.
The REDS play Southampton tomorrow. They should win easily. |
