CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1999-- Odyssey(OTC Bulletin Board:OILYF) ODYSSEY PETROLEUM CORPORATION (OTCBB:OILYF-BB) (''Odyssey'' or the ''Company'') announces the following changes to the Board of Directors:

The board of directors have invited Mr. David Curry and Mr. Munro Sutherland to serve as directors until the next Annual General Meeting.

Mr. Curry holds degrees in Engineering and Law. Mr. Curry has over 25 years experience in the oil and gas industry in Africa, the Far East, United States, North Sea and other locations. Mr. Curry is the Chief Executive of Melrose Resources plc. Mr. Sutherland is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry in the UK and the USA. Mr. Sutherland is currently the finance director of Melrose Resources plc.

The board of directors also accepted the resignations of Mr. Carl Burnett, Mr. Gilles Koch and Mr. Monty Gordon from the boards of the Company and all subsidiaries to which they served. The board of directors would like to take this opportunity to express their appreciation for the contributions made by Mr. Burnett, Koch and Gordon during their tenure as directors of the Company.

Melrose Resources plc is a UK based energy resource company with producing oil properties in the Permian Basin in Texas and New Mexico and a gas field development in the Black Sea, offshore Bulgaria.

Odyssey is a Canadian-based energy resource company with a 50 percent working interest in two onshore exploration blocks in Egypt -El Mansoura and Siwa and a 46 percent working interest in the Qantara concession - onshore Egypt. Odyssey is also engaged in the production and distribution of ethanol in the western United States.
