It seemed to me that AMD had pretty strong business in MPU's, but their other businesses brought the numbers down. Yes, it could have been better, but...
No, I didn't see where PC business in general was in trouble. We have a threat to Intel that is driving technology even though they would probably like to slow things down a bit now, and you have a price threat which makes things more payable.
I see Intel has moved to a new generation PIII and they've shifted it to small .18 processes. They say they've introduced special functions to enhance Speech Rec. and graphics which will make the new Chrome, or IE 5 very enjoyable. If this leads to a low price PIII in 12 months when IE 5 is available, it will continue to drive PC demand.
I've only read rumors about Chrome, but it might be very interesting? Certainly Macromedia and others aren't sitting on their thumbs. The Internet is getting more visually exciting everyday.
Again, this will fuel the use of Internet. Don't know if you listened to the Yahoo conference call, but it was awesome. It's on real audio on C/Net. They said they've got 175 million page views a day in Dec despite the fact that majority of their hits normally happen during business, 1/2 billion in cash, and their quarter over quarter numbers would make most companies thrilled if they were year over year.

Mark
PS I got a fishing pole for Christmas. Now, how do fish tales translate over the Internet? It was this big.... |
