Dale, where do you find this stuff?

I've been following this thread for several months now because it seems to be the best source to find out the whereabouts of my SyJet drive that I ordered! I am not ordinarily inclined to join in on a conversation of which I know nothing about - stocks. In fact, sometimes it appears you guys aren't using English at all! But, be that as it may, I have had some limited dealings with SyQuest and thought I'd throw in my two cents worth.

I was the proud, happy owner of an EZ135 drive. It was trouble free, fast, small -- excellent. So when I saw the SyJet being advertised, I sold the EZ135 to update! At the time, I knew nothing of the financial problems of the company - just wanted to upgrade from an already awesome product to one 10 times more awesome.

I wrote a couple e-mails to SyQuest - never heard back. Yesterday I thought of checking on the availability of SyJet cartridges directly through SyQuest (you know, just in case the vaporware called SyJet really shows). So, I called their 800 number. I asked the salesperson, "I was wondering if you yet have any 1.5 gigabyte cartridges for a SyJet drive." "What size?" "1.5 gigabytes." "How many M-bytes is that", she asked. Not wanting to ask if she wanted the scientific or binary conversion of Gig to Meg, 1000 or 1024, I simply replied, "1500." She replied, "Oh, I'm sorry, we no longer support that size." I said, "that's interesting, since it's supposed to have started shipping just this month." She replied, "Oh - you mean the SyJet drive."

So the moral.. It seems the engineering product - the SyJet itself is superior to the Jaz drive - more "bang for the buck". If the company fails, its because of people not getting inquiries answered, of incompetent support people, of continual lies or half-truths regarding product availability and company financial conditions. I believe Dale it is you that keeps repeating "it's a dog with fleas"? Maybe. But, in my opinion, the dog is the "best of breed", maybe even "best of show", but the owners treat it like a mangy mutt.

Myself, I'm still waiting for my mutt, but I've prepared a bath, shampoo, brush, shots and - oh yes - flea powder.

Thanks for your continuing expertise and teaching.

Bill
