I'm not sure it matters because I don't think the results are going to be anything but a partisan vote, but explain to me the choices they have at the conclusion of the trial. Isn't it guilty or not guilty. In most trials they have two stages. The verdict and then the sentencing. It seems like the defense is focusing on sentencing as if that precedes the verdict or that it is determined simultaneously. As in, yes he did these things but it doesn't rise to the level of impeachable offense so ....so what. Not guilty, a vote not to impeach, or what?
