The IEEE formed a working group called IEEE.N-west
to develop an air-interface standard for LMDS. Note
that as usual, there seems to be a lot of politicking
involving the inclusion of mesh-networks in addition to
P-MP, as well as the range of BWs covered by the
standards (Americans want to include not only the
28GHz band, but also the 38Ghz band):
