Abandon the internal combustion engine when gas is $6 a gallon?
Gasoline already costs that much in France, even more in the Netherlands and almost as much in Germany, but you don't see anyone ditching their Citroen, Renault, BMW, Mercedes, or VW.

A company like BLDPF might one day provide a new fuel-cell engine that converts liquid or gas fuel to electricity more efficiently and cleaner, but advances in that field and clean air laws will drive the change, not economics. I don't think even $10 a gallon gas would drive people out of their cars. An extra $3,500 a year to fuel my BMW? Not a problem... but then I live in Los Angeles.
