Joe Cool...The term IRA refers to a U.S retirement account. It sounds as if your from Canada so this would not apply to you. Simply Check off 'no'. Its like our forms asking if this account is a RRSP.
Regarding the 3 day waiting period for trades to settle; this simply means that if you sell a security today you don't get the money into your account for three days. But the trade actually takes place the day you buy or sell. Therefore you can still daytrade through TD Greenline.
What you might want to ASK is HOW LONG DO the trades settle in the U.S. Trading acount. There should be standard rules for each brokerage.
I too have been looking to open up a U.S Trading account, but only because TD Grenline cannot purchase a certain security that I wish to trade in and out of.
Sorry I can not help you in rating any of the brokerages. Yes it seems that some come with horror stories; so do your DD. Hopefully someone(s) can povide you with further insight on that question. Hope this helps, Keith
