Miser, I downloaded it too, and my experience was similar. And even on a pentium 400 it's not too fast. I can't understand why someone would wait 10 minutes, never mind 60+... search engines already give you text summary of the hits, and you can decide. The web is about instant gratification..and it's slow enough already! MAYBE it makes sense if you've got a cable modem and the time is cut down.

Think it's very easy for people who don't know technology to latch onto the Internet word, without realizing what it is. Being able to download is great because you can get hands on with it.

Was conjecturing before about VJ++, it's not, it's 100% java. And it's pokey because they're using sun's runtime.

This is not a search engine, they're relying on yahoo, lycos, etc. Nowhere close to what Inktomi is doing (they supply yahoo and some other big portal). I actually thought the graphics and layout were pretty professional. Definetely recommend all potential investors to do the download and try it.

The kid filtering looked like the parent had to put in a list of "naughty" words, that'd be filtered out? Anyone tried this?

Webferret sounds interesting. CatchTheWeb (.com) is good for pulling & publishing pages, has won several awards, and NetAttache from Tympani for sucking down a web site.
