AMD had a High Pole Top (HPT) in a Red Zone (a major area of previous resistance or a top) in December. This might be the clue you're looking for that might have been the tip off that all things were not so well with AMD's p&f chart. The HPT was suggesting that a move below a previous bottom ($25) was a good possibility. With a brand new RS buy signal having just occurred, I would've viewed the HPT as having the potential to cause a correction, and not as a final top for the stock.
