C-Cube Microsystems Inc., Milpitas, Calif., has announced the ZiVA-3 DVD decoder, the company's third-generation device for consumer DVD players.
The chip pairs an MPEG-2 video decoder with a 50-mips audio DSP engine running C-Cube's proprietary RealSonic audio technology. Support for the DVD, Chaoji VCD, VideoCD, and CD-DA standards is included. Among the device's other features are zoom, fade, DTS digital out, bass redirection, karaoke functions, and simulated 3D audio.
The chip is available now, but pricing was not provided.
