Tim,

I was attempting make more general points about levels of acrimony on the thread, which you seem to have missed or simply chosen to ignore. That said, I do not respond to taunts, jibes or invitations to wrangle. I am content to take the word of people I respect at face value. No proofs required or demanded. I have no mandate for the "truth" and the "real" story any more than anyone else. To each his/her own. As far as I'm concerned - if you can make something work, it works. And there ends the matter. Generalizing the particular to a universal absolute is another matter altogether.

If you can deal with that - we have agreement.

If you must have proofs - I'll take you back to first principles and offer you the following, entirely in rhetorical play, and in all humility.

Earnings are expressed in numbers.
Numbers do not exist in nature, are unreal constructs, and fictious.
Anything expressed in fictious terms must itself also be fictious.
Therefore, and QED, earnings are a fiction.
From which I derive: earnings stories are facilitating acts/leaps of faith. Prices are simply a barometer of faith. (I'll leave off at his point.)

Feel free to be contaminated by unreality or just ignore and move on.
