Linda, I agree with your assessment of the iMac's effect on Apple's mindshare, though I am somewhat amused that it was the appearance of the iMac on Home Shopping Network which you saw as pivotal.
Uhhh... about the scanner: The price of 36 bit scanners has become very competitive. Agfa is advertising the SnapScan 1212U "in translucent blue." It is touted as a companion scanner to an iMac with USB interface, 600 X 1200 optical dpi, 36 bit, 1 MB/sec scanning and a reasonable $129.95 MSRP. Not bad. And, the price has no limited window of opportunity.
On another topic: Having thought about the current stock price and most recent events, I have come to the conclusion that we may test 47 again before the end of the month (if the broader market holds). For one thing, there is no bad news in the stock. I don't think the channel stuffing story is widely believed, and thus it will have a reverse effect as soon as options are out of the way. Another thing. Watching the cascading ticker on LiveCharts, it appeared to me that we were under accumulation the whole time we were falling. If we were going lower, it would have happened Friday. As the rebound sharpens, remaining shorts will scramble to cover until we get into above 45 territory.
Investors should expect the recent update in the product cycle to generate strong demand for the current quarter. And, it's no secret that more products are pending that should extend the momentum. Everyone loves an undervalue to overvalue play, and AAPL is shaping up to become just that.
Go long now! HerbVic |
