The Sumitomo Credit Service Co. Ltd. To Offer Secure Payment Processing to Merchants

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 1997-- Verifone Inc today announced The Sumitomo Credit Service Co. Ltd. as the first
customer for VeriFone's Secure Electronic Transaction (SET) Pilot Products.

These products provide secure end-to-end Internet payment capabilities and consist of VeriFone's vPOS, vGATE, and vWALLET software. These
products will offer Sumitomo's merchant customers a complete SET-compliant Internet payment solution. This SET pilot is scheduled to be held in
Japan by Sumitomo.
